A Review of The Book Nook

772 NY-50, Burnt Hills, NY

When I started reviewing bookshops, I started local here in the Albany area and branched out, but years later I am seeing little spots I missed and places that opened after I moved further afield, so visiting The Book Nook is one of many local atonements I’m hoping to make in 2026. A Review of Golden Leaf Books

30 Saratoga Ave., Waterford, NY

I found this bookshop in a small strip of stores anchored by a Stewart’s Shop heading into Waterford, a cozy little store (self-described as “a witchy bookstore/headshop” on Instagram) that sells more than novels and notebooks. Stone Blvd. (?) Saratoga Springs, NY

This shop, more than any other I’ve visited in my life, has me torn about my experience. On one hand, you have a large selection of used books in pretty good shape that are one dollar each. But on the other hand, my experience at the Saratoga $1 Book Warehouse left me feeling…well, to put it mildly, a little unsettled.
